How to find the Perfect Rental Property in Glasgow

If you’re looking for a place to rent in Glasgow, you’ll want to make sure that you find the perfect property for your needs.

There are plenty of great rental properties available, but it can be tricky to find the one that’s perfect for you.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of tips to help in your search to find your perfect rental property!

Here are some of our top tips:

Start your property search early

The sooner you start looking, the more likely you are to find the perfect property. Do online research. There are plenty of great websites that list rental properties in Glasgow. This is a great way to get an idea of what’s available and to find out more about different rental options. Things move quickly – the ideal time to start looking is 4-6 weeks away from your preferred move in date.

Find an affordable property

It’s important to find a rental property that you can afford. Make sure to set yourself a budget before you start looking for properties. It’s important to know how much you can afford to spend on rent each month before you start your search.

Decide what you need

Make a list of the must-haves for your perfect rental property, such as number of bedrooms, location, and amenities.  It’s important to take your time to find somewhere you’re really happy with.

Think about what you need. Make a list of the things that are important to you in a rental property. This could include things like the size of the property, the location, closeness to schools and work, and whether it has a garden.

Look for property offline too

Use all the resources at your disposal. In addition to online listings, don’t forget to check out local listings and classified ads.

Ask around

Talk to friends, family, and work colleagues to see if they know of any good rental properties in the area. They can also be a good source of information on other important considerations such as what the rent prices are like in a particular neighbourhood, and whether the area is generally considered safe, or not.

Check out different areas

Glasgow is a big city, so take some time to explore different areas before you make your final decision.

View several properties

Once you’ve found a few that meet your needs, schedule tours of each one to see which is the best fit.

Read the lease carefully

Before you sign anything, make sure you understand all of the terms and conditions of the lease agreement.

Your investment is only as good as your letting agent.

Glasgow rental property has proven to be a great investment over the years. However, all investments have risk and not all Glasgow letting agents are equal. My job at Yates Hellier is to ensure that my client’s investments produce consistent results.

FAQs

What is the Glasgow West End property market like?

The Glasgow West End property market is generally considered to be in its own mini climate. Demand is always high as buyers want to be close to the action and local hotspots. Generally, if you have a well maintained and well-presented property in the West End of Glasgow, you will have no trouble in achieving multiple offers over the Home Report valuation.  The majority of properties are traditional sandstone tenements, however there are a number of new build developments. We found that most properties fetch in excess of the Home Report value, and it’s a rather buoyant market

Who pays for an EWS1 form?

In Scotland it is the ‘owner’ of individual flats. So, if you wish to sell – this is you. This is due to the differing method of ownership in England and Scotland. In England and Wales, EWS1 form applies to the whole building. In England the ‘owner’ is the freeholder - they never fully own their property.
